As part of our commitment to supporting UK manufacturers, Made in Britain is collaborating with CCS for this event to provide companies with the tools and knowledge to explore new commercial opportunities within the public sector. With the Procurement Act set to take effect on 24 February 2025, this is the perfect time to prepare your business for the evolving landscape of public procurement.

This session will provide practical insights into CCS’s supply chain needs, the opportunities available for SMEs, and how UK manufacturers can best position themselves to engage with the UK’s biggest public procurement organisation.

  • Highlight their supply chains needs and the opportunities available to UK manufacturers.

Speakers

Stephanie Porter, Commercial Manager, Crown Commercial Service

Steph Porter is a commercial Agreement Manager.  She has 30 years of experience in the public sector, across several commercial roles in the Department for Work and Pensions and Crown Commercial Service. She has been heavily involved in developing, procuring and managing facilities management frameworks at Crown Commercial Service. She is an active member of the facilities management and estates commercial forum, which is an opportunity for Central Government to engage, inform and support the Government Property Strategy to ensure a range of commercial solutions are managed and developed by CCS. Steph is also a member of the Crown Commercial Service SME working group. The main aims of the group are to bring together SMEs and CCS stakeholders to identify and monitor the challenges facing SMEs.

Joanne Kenny, Commercial Lead, Crown Commercial Service

Jo Kenny is a commercial lead specialist.  She has 40 years of experience in the public sector, of which 30 are across commercial roles in the Department for Work and Pensions and Crown Commercial Service.  She led on developing and awarding the first stand-alone framework for security products and services, She has developed and chairs a quarterly Security Forum with public sector buyers and external stakeholders. Jo has extensive experience in managing suppliers and driving up performance.

Facilitator

George Middleton, Advisor to Made in Britain and Director, MAP UK & International

George Middleton is an international trade and supply chains specialist.  He has extensive professional experience in public, private and not-for-profit sectors, in the UK and internationally. He is the Director of MAP UK & International and an Advisor to Made in Britain.  Since 2019, George has engaged privately with companies and governments across a range of sectors. Current appointments also include long-term roles with a UK plc and an executive agency of the UK government. George lived and worked overseas between 2011 and 2018, for the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and then Department for International Trade.  Before that, he managed Community Relations and Regeneration projects, for the London 2012 Olympic Delivery Authority (2008-11) and Tribal Group plc [later Capita] (2005-08).
