The UK’s largest privately-owned lighting manufacturer, Dextra Group plc, has commissioned two of the first right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz trucks to be equipped with ground-breaking Active Drive Assist technology.
Tim Pickford, Operations Director at Dextra Group says "not only are they fitted with Mercedes new mirror-cam technology which replaces old fashioned mirrors, but these are the first two in the country to be fitted with drive and brake assist . The mirror-cam offers great improved all round visibility removing blind spots problems with the old mirrors and consists of two cameras on the cab mounted on stalks and two 15inch display screens on the A pillar inside the cab. The active drive and brake assist were added as a safety feature for our drivers on our overcrowded roads, featuring automatic distance control, electrically assisted steering and lane assist whilst the brake assist can perform partial or emergency braking for the truck if a pedestrian walks out in front of the truck or the traffic comes to a standstill".
Active Drive Assist encourages a more relaxed and fuel-efficient driving style, thereby increasing safety.
