Surrey veterinary skills centre add x-ray facility

THE Veterinary Clinical Skills Centre at the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine called upon Envirotect Limited to provide safety items for its new x-ray facility.

The project involved removing two sets of equine stable doors and converting them into x-ray shielded doors. They were removed from the site and modified at Envirotect's workshop in Bedfordshire where skilled craftsmen dismantled the original doors and applied code 5 lead lining. Envirotect then returned to the site and installed code 5 lead lining to both frames before refitting the doors to the new x-ray facility.

The building was purpose-built to teach animal handling and examination. Its flying saucer design incorporates a large central atrium where staff can set up equipment for teaching. This central area is surrounded by a ring of stables that include the new x-ray room, livestock pens and teaching rooms.

Envirotect offers a range of radiation and RF shielding products including lead-lined panelling, door sets, screens, observation windows, cabinets, lead glass, lead vinyl and RF cages for MRI.
