UYR Group Launches Range of Antimicrobial Silicone Coated Educational Resources Featuring SteriTouch® Technology

Industry-leading education design and print firm, UYR Group, has recently collaborated with Radical Materials to implement SteriTouch® antimicrobial protection across a wide range of printed materials. This new range features various resources, including exercise books, knowledge organisers, assessment papers, and staff/student planners.

Founded in 1998, UYR Group provides print and design services to a diverse client base ranging from multi-academy trusts to hospitality venues. With innovation at the core of UYR services, tackling issues surrounding the transmission of harmful microorganisms presented a unique challenge.

Printed resources are some of the most frequently handled articles within all stages of education and are a potential cause of cross-contamination. To combat this issue, UYR Group and Radical Materials have developed a robust, clear silicone coating that is applied to the new range of resources. This coating incorporates SteriTouch® antimicrobial technology; a specialised additive that harnesses the natural antimicrobial properties of silver to significantly reduce the number of harmful microorganisms present on the surface of the material. This particular application method not only protects the articles themselves against degradation but also presents employees, students and visitors with a cleaner and safer environment.

Tested by independent UK laboratories using the ISO 22196 method, the silicone coating has been confirmed to reduce up to 99.99% of tested surface bacteria, including MRSA and E.coli.
