Cornwall based woollen mill wins export grant

The Natural Fibre Company is thrilled to be one of only 12 small businesses in the UK to be awarded the Heathrow World of Opportunity grant this year, supporting the expansion of their export strategy. Currently they export their own brand knitting wool called Blacker Yarns to 26 countries.

In 2024, Heathrow re-launched the World of Opportunity grant programme designed to support the UK’s SMEs to boost their export potential through trade missions, research, and training opportunities, in partnership with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). CEO and business owner, Colin Spencer Halsey said: “We are proud and privileged to be recognised by the Heathrow World of Opportunity with this award. Working closely with our DBT International Trade Advisor, we are encouraged by the growth in our export sales in the past twelve months and we will use the award to further develop our markets in the USA and Canada. This type of award enables us to promote the values of ‘from farm to yarn’ using 100% British wool, made in Britain, manufactured in Cornwall and sold worldwide.”
