Nicab Ltd strengthens Defence sector credentials with JOSCAR accreditation
Nicab Ltd, a niche manufacturer specialising in cable assemblies and box-build services, has secured accreditation under the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register (JOSCAR) – a compliance system managed by Hellios Information Ltd.
This accreditation is recognised across the UK defence, aerospace and security sectors. Nicab Founder Nick Locke commented: “This is a prestigious approval in our industry and something we have been working on for three years.
“A ‘JOSCAR’ will likely open certain doors for us. One new customer had it as a requirement, and I’d been knocking on their door for a while – suddenly we’ve got a response.”
To obtain JOSCAR approval, Nicab underwent a rigorous evaluation process, demonstrating adherence to 21 stringent criteria set by Hellios.
These criteria encompass areas such as cybersecurity, financial stability, ethical sourcing and compliance with international human rights standards.
Nick explained: “For example, we were required to demonstrate that we are not involved in supply chains where the supply is coming from Russia or other hostile nations.
“We were also required to provide an assurance that we don’t use suppliers or source materials where human rights are being abused.
“Minerals are part of our industry – we only use those mines who are paying people a fair wage and operating to the highest ethical standards.”
Nicab employs 30 people at its manufacturing premises at the Silverstone Park technology business campus adjacent to the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on Buckinghamshire-Northamptonshire border.
Its capabilities in the build of cable assemblies and wiring harnesses are used in demanding environments such as defence and emergency services, and also in life-saving medical equipment.
Nick added: “The JOSCAR accreditation clearly shows that we are going well above and beyond when it comes to diligence on suppliers and the supply chains we work with.
“Sectors looking for cable and wiring harness assembly companies can find plenty on Google – but very few have got the JOSCAR approval and that sets us apart from the rest.”
