Strongdor's contribution to enhancing training capabilities was exemplified on March 24th. On this day, we proudly produced and supplied steel-door sets as a generous donation to Lancashire Fire and Rescue, aimed at bolstering their internal training efforts.
Prompted by an incident attended by the Burnley Fire Station team earlier in the year, the crew recognized the need for additional training in the art of gaining access and breaching high security doors. This preparation is essential in situations where penetrating steel door sets becomes a necessity.
Elaborating on this initiative, Lancashire Fire and Rescue crew member Andy Coulton shares,
"In January we attended an incident in a disused theatre which had been fortified to keep out 'urban explorers' who kept accessing the site. Unfortunately on this occasion 2 people gained entry through another part of the building and had a floor collapse beneath them resulting in serious injuries. We needed to get a casualty out through some steel personnel doors which had been fitted on the ground floor but due to the strength of the doors it proved a challenging task. As always, we look back, debrief and reflect on incidents as to how we can improve. It became clear that we had never trained on this type of door and therefore were blind in its construction.
I reached out to Strongdor as a local Lancashire company to see if they had any rejected, damaged or unsaleable steel doors we could purchase for training, I was overwhelmed when they offered us doors for free to use for this task and worked very hard to make it happen in a timely manner. We can now go away and experiment with techniques which will then enable us to create a training package to distribute amongst staff.
Thanks to the great team at Strongdor for your ongoing support!"
