Thomas Dudley Ltd and eco-cistem™ Unite to Deliver Groundbreaking Water-Saving Innovation

Thomas Dudley Ltd is proud to announce its partnership with eco-cistem™, a pioneering solution in sustainable water management. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the development of environmentally conscious building technologies, reinforcing Thomas Dudley’s commitment to innovation through teamwork, trusted partnerships, and a family-first approach to business.

The eco-cistem™ is a revolutionary toilet cistern that uses grey condensate water—typically discarded from air conditioning units—to flush toilets, significantly reducing the demand for mains water. The concept was initiated by the directors of G&H, a leading MEP building services company based in Yorkshire, in response to a client’s sustainability goals and the growing challenge of managing condensation in modern buildings.

Recognising the potential of this idea, G&H turned to Thomas Dudley to help bring the product to life. Over two years of close collaboration, the teams worked together to design, test, and refine the eco-cistem™. The result is a patented, twin-chamber cistern that prioritises grey water usage while maintaining high-performance flushing standards. Early installations have demonstrated up to 64% savings in mains water consumption across commercial buildings.

“This project is a testament to what can be achieved when like-minded organisations come together with a shared purpose,” said Josh Bennett, Innovations Manager at Thomas Dudley Ltd. “We’re proud to have played a part in developing a product that not only supports sustainability but also reflects our values of partnership and innovation.”

The eco-cistem™ is designed for concealed installation and is compatible with all major sanitaryware brands. It fits standard service voids and offers adjustable flush volumes to suit global requirements. The eco-cistem™ components have received WRAS approval, passed KIWA’s AB Air Gap test (Category 5), and qualify for BREEAM and LEED water efficiency credits.

In 2023, G&H appointed Paul Crossley as Managing Director of eco-cistem™, further strengthening the collaboration. Together, the teams have streamlined UK manufacturing and completed successful case studies. The product is now in stock and available for distribution.

As climate change drives increased demand for air conditioning, the eco-cistem™ offers a timely and practical solution for reducing water waste. Even a small 1.75kW air conditioning unit can produce over a litre of condensate per hour—water that can now be put to good use.

This partnership exemplifies Thomas Dudley’s belief in building lasting relationships and delivering meaningful innovation through collaboration.
