Imaginarium optimises metal 3D printing with the Russell AMPro® Lab Sieve Station

Imaginarium, India's largest advanced design and digital manufacturing ecosystem, has enhanced its metal 3D printing capabilities by integrating the Russell AMPro® Lab Sieve Station into its workflow.

Over two decades ago, Imaginarium introduced India’s first industrial 3D printer, initially focusing on creating master patterns for the jewelry industry. With continued innovation and process refinement, the company expanded into engineering and healthcare, and today serves a diverse client base across aerospace, defense, automotive, energy, and medical sectors.

The company’s latest venture, Imaginarium Solutions, collaborates with OEMs around the world to provide cutting-edge metal 3D printers and additive manufacturing solutions.

Previously, Imaginarium supplied a large industrial sieve alongside its 3D printers. While suitable for handling various metal powders, the sieve posed challenges—particularly when switching between materials like stainless steel and more reactive or hazardous powders such as titanium. Cleaning was time-consuming, and the system required customers to accumulate large volumes of powder before sieving, resulting in workflow inefficiencies.

To overcome these limitations and offer a more agile, user-friendly solution, Imaginarium adopted the Russell AMPro® Lab Sieve Station—enhancing powder handling and improving the overall efficiency of its metal additive manufacturing operations.

Over the past two years, Imaginarium explored alternative powder sieving solutions and identified Russell Finex’s specialized equipment as an ideal fit for additive manufacturing needs.

Today, Imaginarium equips its metal 3D printers with the Russell AMPro® Lab Sieve Station—a compact, small-batch powder recovery unit designed to integrate seamlessly with metal 3D printing systems. Unlike the larger, industrial sieve previously used, this unit offers a better capacity match for the printers, allowing customers to recover and reuse metal powders more efficiently.

Imaginarium has been particularly impressed with the unit’s performance when handling specialized alloys and hazardous materials such as titanium, noting improved ease of use and safer, cleaner operations.
