Made in Britain extends the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) invitation to respond to four new consultations from 'Make Work Pay', a government initiative on labour market reform.
Made in Britain works closely with DBT to ensure that members are able to have a say in policy changes that impact their business.
The 'Make Work Pay' plan is a core part of the mission to grow the economy, raise living standards across the country and create opportunities. It aims to tackle low pay, poor working conditions and poor job security.
The plan is designed to help more people to stay in work, support workers’ productivity and improve living standards. It is part of the Employment Rights Bill.
The government is seeking views on the following areas:
- The new duty on employers to inform workers of their right to join a trade union
- Trade union rights of access to the workplace
- Enhanced dismissal protections for pregnant women and new mothers
- Leave for bereavement, including pregnancy loss
The deadline to respond to the consultations relating to unions is 18 December 2025. The deadline for the consultations, which relate to pregnancy protection and bereavement leave, is 15 January 2026.
You can read the full 'Make Work Pay' documentation around the consultations here.
Made in Britain also encourages members to contact us to share their experience or collaborate on a collective response. Your insights will help ensure the voice of British manufacturers is heard.
