Great Harwood based rucomfy Beanbags achieved an impressive sweep at the 2025 Hyndburn Business Awards, winning both the Made in Hyndburn and the prestigious Beacon Award and earning finalist recognition in the Social Media Champion, Independent Retailer and Medium Business categories, standing out among over 600 applications.
Founded in 1982 in Blackburn and now operating from the heart of Lancashire’s textile region, the family run company has become the UK’s leading beanbag brand.
“I couldn't be prouder of the entire team at rucomfy, I think every single one of the team members are all incredible and it’s such an honour to have our hard work and dedication recognised like this.
“It’s just amazing, I’m still blown away at the fact that we won,” said Jenny Ainsworth, Senior Manager at rucomfy.
With over 40 years of in‑house design and manufacturing and a proud membership of Made in Britain, rucomfy continues to shine as a local champion with national reach.
When announced as the winner of the coveted Beacon Award, the judges highlighted the company for making amazing products and ‘putting Hyndburn on the Global map.’
Creative Manager Nicole, whose innovative approach to product development continues to shape rucomfy’s standout reputation in the home and lifestyle space, said she felt “absolutely ecstatic” for the entire team.
“Everyone works so hard and it’s great to be recognised, especially in the local community,’ she shared.
Reflecting on the personal impact, Nicole admitted she was “speechless” to realise just how many people have connected with the products she’s helped create, adding, “I can’t describe how immensely proud I am to know the difference our designs have made.”
The Social Media Champion nomination was a proud moment for rucomfy’s creative and marketing team, with Junior Marketing Assistant Jasmin reflecting on how much it meant to be recognised.
“It means a lot to be nominated,” she said, noting how the effort between herself, Marketing Apprentice Asma and Marketing Manager Kelley goes into keeping rucomfy’s online presence fresh, engaging and on brand.
“It’s amazing to know it doesn’t go unnoticed.”
When the Beacon Award was announced, Jasmin said she was ‘absolutely shellshocked’ and ‘very, very happy,’ admitting the team had to double check they’d heard it right.
“It felt amazing,” she added. “I’m still lost for words.”
Kelley Szostak, Marketing Manager at rucomfy, expressed immense pride in rucomfy’s recent wins, calling them ‘a huge testament to the hard work, creativity, and passion of the entire team.’
She credited the company’s success to strong collaboration across departments and a shared vision that drives everything they do.
“When the team sees their efforts acknowledged externally, it boosts their confidence and creates a sense of accomplishment,” she said.
Recognition like this, she added, is a powerful motivator and morale booster.
Kelley also emphasised the importance of rucomfy’s roots in the Hyndburn business community, saying the company is proud to contribute to the local economy and support local employment.
“It gives us a strong sense of identity, we’re not just based here, we’re part of the community.”
The company looks ahead to continuing its local and national impact in 2025 and beyond.
