Made in Britain sign Agreement with National Association of Jewellers

Made in Britain has signed a outline agreement with the National Association of Jewellers at the IJL show in London to help UK-based manufacturers in the sector focus more of their effort on provenance marketing .  In a strategic approach to the current environment, the NAJ has announced that Made in Britain, the organisation representing more than 1000 UK makers across 40 product sectors will create an affiliate scheme where members of both will benefit.

Members making here in the UK who sign up to scheme will benefit from publicity on both the NAJ website and the Made in Britain Directory and the right to use a proposed optional mark on the jewellery itself. An initial outline terms of licence was signed at International Jewellery London on Monday 4th of September 2017.

Andrew Hinds, NAJ Deputy Chairman who has been very involved in the negotiations recently commented:

“If we can make it easier for consumers to find products and the manufacturers that made them in the UK and also be part of a movement that makes the case for the benefits to our economy of buying UK made products – rather like the red tractor scheme in food or the safety Kitemark – it could have a positive outcome for our industry.”

“I am delighted to be working with NAJ and encourage the jewellery industry to join take up this initiative which will start next year. The Made in Britain network brings together manufacturers from all sectors, providing a unique platform for them to thrive together.” John Pearce CEO, Made in Britain

Manufacturers, designers and retailers can register their interest by filling in the short survey card on the NAJ stand J20 at IJL in the upstairs Gallery or e-mail madeinbritain@naj.co.uk with their details.
