Earlier this month, as thousands of manufacturers gathered at the NEC for Smart Manufacturing Week 2025, the Made in Britain team was out in force, speaking, exhibiting, and partnering through the SME Growth Stream to amplify the message of the campaign and registered trademark.
Simon Boyd, Director of Membership and Programmes at Made in Britain (pictured), took to the stage as part of the Leadership and Strategy Programme. In a compelling presentation, Simon made a wide-ranging case for British manufacturing, highlighting the critical role of local production in boosting the UK’s economic resilience and long-term growth. He tackled both global and local challenges facing manufacturers today, while underscoring the opportunities presented by Britain’s strengths in skills, innovation, and quality.
Simon also emphasised the strategic benefits of local manufacturing for supply chain stability, product quality, and policy, particularly in areas like defence procurement. His presentation, well received by attendees, was rich with real-world examples and success stories from across the Made in Britain membership. It sparked a wave of interest, driving a steady stream of membership enquiries at the Made in Britain stand.
Also at the event, Made in Britain CEO John Pearce served as a judge for The Manufacturer's Top 100 Awards. The celebration of this year’s honourees took place during the show, adding further momentum to the week’s events.
In one of the rare occasions where Made in Britain hosted a stand, the response exceeded expectations. Over a busy few days, the team connected with hundreds of prospective members and reconnected with many existing ones in attendance.
Smart Manufacturing Week 2025 offered a powerful platform for championing the benefits of Made in Britain membership and celebrating the value and global potential of British manufacturing.
