Manufacturing discussions in Parliament gather pace as Made in Britain’s engagement grows

Report: October 2025

As a cornerstone of our service to the membership community of Made in Britain, in the representation and promotion pillars, Made in Britain monitors all relevant references to "Made in Britain" and “UK manufacturing” during debates and discussions in the House of Commons and House of Lords.

There has been a total of 90 relevant mentions in this period.
Though marginally down from the previous quarter, this is up considerably from the same period 12 months ago.

Made in Britain Strategic Relations team actively followed up with the 73 MPs and Lords who made these references, to contribute to discussions on these important topics, and offer connections with Made in Britain companies. We are committed to raising awareness amongst key stakeholders, business influencers and politicians across all parties, to promote UK manufacturing and contribute to the narrative of British manufacturing excellence and growth.

As part of our exhibiting agenda in 2025, we attended recent Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat party conferences.

The discussions have covered a range of themes, including:

  • Defence, Security and Defence Procurement
  • British Steel
  • Public Procurement and “Buy British”
  • Energy and Renewables
  • SMEs and Skills
  • Industrial Strategy

These notifications came from MPs and Lords across the entire UK political spectrum.

We encourage Made in Britain companies to engage with your local MP to discuss these or other topics or to introduce your company. You can find a step-by-step guide here , including a link for contact details and draft wording for correspondence.
