“100% of our manufacturing is done here in the UK, and a large part of our supply chain is also based here. We really want to support the local economy in the UK.” Michael Lowe, CEO, Sunswap
In episode ten of UnPacked, our online video series that showcases some of the UK’s brightest manufacturing leaders, host Matthew Stadlen discusses UK manufacturing with Michael Lowe, CEO of Sunswap. The firm is pioneering sustainable transport refrigeration with Endurance, their battery and solar-powered transport refrigeration unit.
Michael talks about Sunswap's origins and how it has doubled in size since its establishment in 2020. He also discusses how the firm has designed, developed, and manufactured a zero-emission transport refrigeration system and what it’s like working on the factory floor with a team of over 100 people.
Michael says, “What I take away from working with the team in our factory is how much gratification and satisfaction you get from building a tangible product in the UK. I remember the first time we completed our first-ever production unit; there were cheers and applause across the production line, which was a fantastic moment for everyone involved.”
