Product Description

PYROTAPE - Glass Fibre Tapes are manufactured from mechanically bulked ‘E’ type glass yarn and has been developed as an ideal medium for thermal insulation and heat sealing applications.

The fibres are lightweight, resilient, incombustible and the glass tape itself is suitable for operation in applications up to 550ºC – 600ºC. PYROTAPE’s are resistant to oils, most chemicals and solvents, will not rot, and is unaffected by bacterial growth.

For narrower widths the tape can also be manufactured with a high temperature black coating for those applications where a black tape is considered more cosmetically pleasing to the eye.

PYROTAPE’s can also be supplied with a double sided adhesive tape on one side of the tape. This adhesive is purely a fixing aid, and is generally only used to hold the PYROTAPE in place during assembly on the particular appliance – boiler, heat exchanger, stove etc. The adhesive tape does not exhibit the same thermal characteristics as the glass fibre tape.

Thicknesses: 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 6mm (nominal)

Widths: 6mm – 120mm

Other widths and thicknesses are available to order, including ladder tape versions

PGTL Ladder tapes are an ideal medium for sealing sections of ducting carrying hot air flue gases, or boiler casings. The ladder section facilitates fitting over bolts, or allows the tape to fit readily around stove window glass.

Our glass fibre products can be used in many applications such as:

  • Flange sealing on hot air and gas ducting
  • Boiler access and inspection doors
  • Heat exchangers
  • Primary and secondary insulation of pipework
  • Heating appliance glass window seals e.g. stoves
