Blacker Yarns and The Natural Fibre Company

“[We joined] to belong to a network that has credibility.” Colin Spencer Halsey, Director.

The Natural Fibre Company is a specialist woollen mill based in Launceston. They are the only mill in the country to spin both woollen and worsted yarns under the same roof. As well as providing their expertise and support to local farmers and yarn producers, they add value to fleece by blending high-quality regional and rare wool, mohair and alpaca with natural fibres such as silk and linen.

Their sister company, Blacker Yarns produces a range of contemporary, high-quality, breed-specific yarns, made specifically from British sheep.

Their Made in Britain journey

Joining Made in Britain in 2021, their reasoning for applying was simple, "We wanted to belong to a credible network. One of the outstanding features of Made in Britain is the Mark of credibility, and we wanted to be associated with that."

They also added, that by being part of Made in Britain there is a focus on quality, “All we can do is endorse quality, and the recognition of the heritage and traditional ways of making things as we do in Britain.”

They use the Made in Britain Trademark on their product packaging and promotional materials.
