With only 60,000 heat pumps installed in 2022 against Boris Johnson’s target of 600,000 by 2028, there are clearly barriers to low carbon heating that need addressing, such as retrofitting and the requirement for of outside space. Domestic heating is one of the slowest areas to change when it comes to reducing the UK’s carbon emissions. The Sustainable Energy Association (SEA) called for a technology agnostic approach from the government to support a more widespread roll out of low carbon technology to keep us on track to reach Net Zero.
