Discussion round-up: Exporting to Europe

Exporting to Europe online session for Made in Britain members

Made in Britain members joined an online discussion on the 29th September 2022 which focused on exporting to Europe.  The session was facilitated by Made in Britain’s advisor on international trade, George Middleton of MAP UK & International.

Europe is one of the world’s largest single markets with no tariffs between member countries.  It is home to over 450 million consumers and around 22 million SMEs.

The virtual roundtable welcomed input from members on both the challenges and opportunities for UK exporters.  Participating members represented a range of sectors, and varying sizes of business and experience of trade with Europe.

The Department for International Trade’s (DIT) Central Europe Regional Director, Richlove Mensah, also joined the session, dialling in from Poland.

The discussion covered points included how to:

  •  Apply for UK government funding and/or finance for exporting companies
  • Report and potentially overcome a barrier to exporting or importing
  • Access member recommended experts on EU VAT and/or shipping
  • Prepare a sales invoice to reduce the risk of issues with EU customs
  • Engage with DIT's Export Support Team
  • Access free advice from an International Trade Advisor

To find out more on any of the above and make contact with Made in Britain in relation to your company’s exports or imports, please email: trade@madeinbritain.org.

The session was run as of part of Made in Britain’s International Trade Programme.  To read more and for details of other upcoming events, please go to Made in Britain’s webpage on international trade
