Keon Homes completes extra care facility with the help of AliDeck's solutions

AliDeck’s Senior Flat Board and Balcony Drainage System played a key role in ensuring compliance with BS 8579:2020 and the latest NHBC Standards in Keon Homes’ new extra care facility at Station Road, Newport. Delivered in partnership with Wrekin Housing Trust, the 1.4-acre facility is part of a larger residential development providing affordable, high-quality housing for the local community.

The Challenge: Ensuring Effective Drainage and NHBC Compliance
One of the primary challenges for this project was ensuring that the external decking areas met NHBC Standards, which are essential for new-build developments. Effective water management was crucial – not only to prevent water pooling and structural damage, but also to ensure the long-term safety and durability of the decking areas.

With large balconies across the project, each requiring a reliable drainage system that could manage water runoff without compromising the structure or design, Keon Homes needed a solution that integrated seamlessly while meeting compliance standards. AliDeck was brought on board to provide a comprehensive deck-level drainage solution.
The Solution: AliDeck’s Senior Decking Board and Bespoke Drainage System
 
AliDeck supplied both the Senior Flat Board for the decking areas and a tailored deck-level drainage system to meet the project’s needs. The solution included two key drainage systems:

Deck Level Piped Drainage Option 1 (Dual Gutter): This system was installed on the large balconies to effectively capture and direct water away. The Dual Gutter option provides a robust drainage path, preventing water accumulation on the larger surfaces and ensuring smooth, reliable water flow.

Deck Level Piped Drainage Option 2 (Wrap-Around Gutter): On smaller balconies across the development, AliDeck installed the Wrap-Around Gutter system. This option wraps neatly around the edges of the decking to manage runoff in tighter spaces, providing the same high level of efficiency while fitting seamlessly into the balcony design.

Both systems ensured that rainwater was directed away efficiently, preventing any pooling or long-term structural damage. AliDeck also supplied comprehensive drainage reports to confirm that these systems met all NHBC Standards, ensuring compliance and durability for years to come.
