James Dannell, Dannells
“Made in Britain is absolutely essential. They’re one of the only organisations dedicated to representing and banging the drum of UK manufacturing.”
James Dannell, Dannells
James Dannell, director at Dannells, leads a company at the heart of bespoke soft furnishings, known globally as the go-to supplier for professional flame-retardant lampshade making. From the steel frames to their signature self-adhesive flame-retardant film, Dannells provides everything needed to create high-quality, customisable lampshades.
“Our film makes any fabric rigid, UV stable, antistatic, and flame retardant,” explains James. Sold in panels or 800-metre rolls, it’s a critical component in both retail kits and manufacturing packs. Beyond lampshades, Dannells has diversified into clocks, bins, and other home décor items, all designed to be covered in customers' own fabrics or wallpapers.
Rooted in British manufacturing since 1982, Dannells operates from a 20,000 sq ft facility in Waltham Abbey. With a third-generation heritage in the industry, James proudly emphasises the importance of local production: “It’s about quality, reliability, and our dedicated team, some of whom have been with us for over 35 years.”
As proud members of Made in Britain, Dannells showcases the registered trademark on every product, underlining their commitment to UK manufacturing. “It’s vital to feel part of a network championing British-made excellence,” says James.
