Justin Cadbury, Synergy Grill Technology
“Made in Britain is very effective at creating a community of companies like ours, who can share the same challenges.”
Justin Cadbury, Synergy Grill Technology
Justin Cadbury, Chairman and CEO of Synergy Grill Technology, shares the accidental origin of his high-efficiency commercial grill business, born from helping a local pub reduce energy bills and mess. With a background in gas technology, he developed a patented system that eliminates fat trays and improves cleanliness – a breakthrough especially appreciated by vegetarians and vegans for its ability to grill without cross-contamination.
Justin passionately advocates for UK manufacturing, citing local craftsmanship, faster innovation, and sustainability. Over 75% of Synergy's components are sourced from the UK, and each grill saves 12 tonnes of CO₂ annually. Their factory in Cambridgeshire not only benefits from skilled local labour but also supports efficient logistics. Sustainability is a cornerstone of the business, reflected in multiple international awards.
Reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, Cadbury emphasises perseverance: “You have to go not just the extra mile, but several extra miles.” Despite hailing from the famed Cadbury chocolate family, he chose to forge his own path in technology. He clearly loves his work, almost as much as his wife, and sees huge untapped potential for UK investors to support innovative smaller firms earlier in their growth journeys. The Made in Britain trademark, he adds, gives them strength and global recognition.
