AKP open their doors for National Manufacturing Day

AKP Ltd will open its doors to the local community as part of Make UK’s National Manufacturing Day celebrations on 26 September 2024, from 10am until 3pm. See first-hand the potential careers and jobs on offer with a ‘through the keyhole’ tour of the successful precision engineering business!

AKP Ltd will be open to schools, colleges and the local community for National Manufacturing Day to showcase first-hand the amazing careers that are available in Britain’s manufacturing sector. The day is open to all age groups, from school leavers to experienced engineers looking for new opportunities and allow the whole community to understand more about the businesses on their doorstep.

During the day, attendees will be able to ask questions, be offered a 30-minute guided tour of the precision engineering CNC workshop and see samples of engineered parts and view the CNC machines in operation, along with inspection and metrology equipment.  If time allows, there will be an opportunity to get ‘hands on’ with the equipment, which includes CMMs, vision and laser measurement systems.  Attendees can also find out more about AKP’s involvement with the subsea, aerospace, nuclear and defence sectors.  Staff will be on hand to speak about what inspired them to take up a career in the sector and the opportunities that they have had to progress and train further within AKP Ltd.

AKP Ltd has been part of the East of England community, providing bespoke precision engineering for subsea, aerospace and defence clients, with experience spanning 20 years. Wayne Read, Director of AKP Ltd said,

‘We are delighted to be taking part in National Manufacturing Day and have the chance to showcase our expertise, processes, tools and people. National Manufacturing Day gives us an opportunity to speak directly with students, teachers and career advisors when they visit our manufacturing facilities. We are continuously seeking engineers, stores and workshop personnel to get involved and help us to produce some parts to the very highest quality standards for our clients.  We are keen to show the people who live on our doorstep what we have to offer in a career that is both exciting and rewarding.’

AKP Ltd offers a comprehensive range of CNC milling, turning, and multi-axis capabilities, providing high-quality machined and turned parts, specialising in bespoke, compact, high-precision parts for industries such as subsea, aerospace and defence. Over the years we have gained a wealth of knowledge, using a wide range of materials. AKP has achieved ISO 45001 (Health and Safety Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), Fit for Nuclear status, carbon charter accreditation and AS9100 (Aerospace Quality Management), ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and Cyber Essentials.

AKP Ltd always goes that extra mile in terms of quality and customer service, consistently rated ‘good to excellent’ by all customers in our May-June 2024 survey. We welcome enquiries for precision parts and are eager to connect with engineers interested in joining a progressive, quality-led and reliability-driven company.

Make UK has created a dedicated microsite www.nationalmanufacturingday.org where companies taking part will post what they produce and detail the events they are planning for National Manufacturing Day itself. Stephen Phipson, CEO of Make UK, the manufacturers organisation added,

‘This is a really exciting day where the whole manufacturing sector will come together to celebrate the amazing things that Britain designs and makes.  Britain’s manufacturing companies are at the forefront of global renewable technology development and some of the most innovative engineering developments seen anywhere around the world. This is a sector with amazing opportunities and we hope this third National Manufacturing Day will give people who have never had the chance to see inside their local businesses just what is going on and the opportunities available to them.’
