SCOTTISH biotechnology company Angel Guard has made the world’s first clinical washbasin with AI technology, according to its website. It has also achieved membership of Made in Britain.
The company describes its new product as, “a genuine step-change in the fight against healthcare-associated infections”. These are infections that occur in a healthcare setting (such as a hospital) that a patient didn't have before they came in. The healthcare estate management magazine HEJ described the washbasin as ‘radical’ and detailed its ‘pipe within a pipe’ system, which Angel Guard says offers real-time data on water quality, risk levels, cleaning and hand-washing compliance.
Founder and managing director of Angel Guard, Jonathan Waggott, told Made in Britain, “As our units get installed in hospitals across the world it will save many millions of lives. We are very proud that Angel Guard is 100 per cent designed and manufactured in Great Britain. We believe that the UK is the centre of excellence for the research and control of water-bourne pathogens and that we have the best scientists and experts rights here. We have worked closely with many of these people so it truly is Great Britain at its best.”
Angel Guard will be using the official Made in Britain mark on its products, its website and its marketing materials. Find out more from the members’ directory profile page here.
