Meet Sophie who come on board with Footstools Direct to help with their marketing.
Footstools Direct wanted to employ a marketing apprentice when they identified a gap in their marketing team in order to help grow their business. Taking on an apprentice was the perfect solution. The apprentice learns through on the job training and coursework provided by tried and tested learning provider to gain a Level 3 qualification in digital marketing. The business benefits by gaining an enthusiastic new employee with a young person’s eye for the fast moving trends in social media and digital communications.
Footstools Direct recently joined Made in Britain, when it identified that its manufacturing and supply was almost wholly UK based. Made in Britain helps promote and support British businesses. It has had a positive effect on their activities and they would recommend any British business whose primary activities are UK based to apply and join the organisation.
Andrew Lydon, Managing Director of Footstools Direct said "We have taken a number of apprentices over the years specifically to help us with digital marketing. This is an area that is crucial for us as we operate primarily online and need a marketing presence that communicates our important message of quality handcrafted crafted British furniture and footstools. Sophie is our third digital marketing apprentice and her enthusiasm for the role is already proving infectious"
Footstools Direct also work alongside digital marketing agency, Simul Digital in Wakefield and they encourage Sophie and are pleased in what shes offered so far.
When we found out about Made in Britain we had little hesitation about joining as it perfectly aligned our “made in Britain” credentials. We are a proud Yorkshire business sourcing most of our materials within a 5 mile radius of our Leeds factory. Our footstools, cube seating, ottomans and drum stools are 100% made in Britain.
We approached Sophie and asked what she enjoyed so far and said "I enjoy having a job within marketing as I have always been quite creative and part of my job role is creating content, such as making posts for social media and photographing products for our website. My generation has also grown up using social media which means I already have some knowledge about how it works. I also did business at GCSE so I have an understanding of how a business works and grows and why social media and marketing is important for a business. I use many social media platforms for myself so I constantly see trends and popular topics online and how other businesses are marketing which helps me in my role too. I think this is the perfect opportunity to start off my career in marketing and hopefully progress in the future".
Sophies next project is to help grow the B2B side of the business. Footstools Direct are great at supplying branded cube seating and already have clients like ASK Italian, BMW and even Atari. They are going to allow Sophie to come up with a fun marketing campaign in 2023 to drive this side of the business even further.
