Dernier & Hamlyn completes latest bespoke lighting superyacht project for Winch Design

When Winch Design was tasked with creating the bespoke interior of the first hull of the new Amels 60 range, named Come Together, artisan crafted bespoke lighting was a key part of creating interiors that would complement her exterior spaces with geometric references being drawn inside.

Winch’s team took these angles and softened the shapes by combining them with organically inspired forms, resulting in an interior that feels beachy and relaxed with a subtle masculine edge and selected a warm, organic colour palette

When it came to the lighting this was interpreted in different ways in the various interior spaces with the kind of unique details that run through Winch’s work.

Jim Dixon, Winch Design’s Managing Partner and Creative Director, Yachts & Aviation said “Having worked with Dernier & Hamlyn previously we knew we could call on them to design and manufacture bespoke lighting that would play a positive role in creating the harmonious custom interiors our client wanted. In common with all aspects of the interiors, the lighting has, for the most part, been crafted from pure and natural materials to emphasise the relaxed ‘home at the beach’ spirit of the interior.”

Come Together’s dining room is a focal point both for family gatherings and entertaining and features lighting with incorporated controls to create the perfect ambience for any occasion. The four fittings in various sizes from 1000mm to 500mm across are softened pentagons and hexagons. Made in Dernier & Hamlyn’s factory to Winch’s exacting specification, the frames are laser cut brass with wooden structures crafted from marine plywood steamed to shape and stained to a unique shade created by Winch Design. They were fitted by hand with stretched goat skin vellum dyed to a Winch custom colour.

In the saloon the four differently sized circular silk shades designed with reference to anemone shells are fixed to frames handmade by Dernier & Hamlyn and fitted with bronze trims.

The study features a beautiful wooden table light clad in leather to emulate a literary work.

And in the master suite the wall lights have been crafted from solid brass fitted with handmade silk shades.
