Developing Sustainable Solutions

Made in Britain member Wrights Plastics aim to put sustainability at the heart of their operations - and their latest infographic aims to make it clear how they achieve this.

The graphic demonstrates how the West Bromwich-based acrylic fabricator's core practices all have a positive benefit on their aim to  lower the impact on their environment on their activities - and that means their clients' environmental impact is also lessened.

Commercial Director Andy Watkins explained further "All manufacturing has an impact on the environment, but we can do a lot to help lower this impact.

"Take our investment in the latest state-of-the-art kit that we use for vacuum forming, CNC routing etc. New machinery is often faster, multi-tasking and more programmable. In real terms this means less energy use, less material waste and better quality products with a longer lifecycle which in turn means less need to manufacture replacement products.

"Or take our material credibility that we have developed in our 50 plus years in the business. Choosing the best material leads to better products that last longer. And we can also use recycled material where this has real long term benefits.

"For us the most sustainable solution is making the best quality product first time every time."

The company have also set challenging internal targets to lower energy use, increase the use of recycled material in projects and better waste segregation that means less material ends up in landfill.
