A team of North East lighting experts are growing again, with the hire of a new apprentice.
Artech lighting welcomed new estimating administration apprentice, Jim Dixon, 21, to its Durham HQ, to support increases in client demand.
Jim spent the last few years studying Art and P.E. at Framwellgate School Sixth Form, before jumping on the corporate ladder and beginning his Level 3 Business Administration course at New College Durham. Jim is the third hire for Artech through the apprenticeship scheme at New College and is thriving in his new career.
Talking about his new role, Jim said: “I’m really pleased to be working for a company like Artech Lighting. The environment allows me to progress within my college course and be able to see how the business operates first-hand in a supportive environment.
“I’m excited to see what my future at Artech holds and I’m grateful for the opportunity to kickstart my career in such an amazing company.”
Jim will develop his skills across sectors of the business from estimation to design with support from the Artech team. His next step is achieving LIA certification, which will see him complete his course at the end of 2024.
Gary Ainsworth, Lighting Design and Estimating Manager said: “We’re really happy to take on another apprentice and support them in the first steps of their career. Guiding and nurturing young people in the workplace is something we’re passionate about at Artech.
“Jim has gelled with the team brilliantly and developed knowledge and understanding of the job quickly. He’s hardworking and keen to learn, and taken to the role like a duck to water.”
