Leading UK street furniture designers and manufacturer, Furnitubes have launched Fordham Reclaimed, an outdoor seating and table range for public realm and urban developments. It is their first street furniture product that is made solely from recycled materials. Fordham is built on a recycled steel frame by their own steel fabrication sister company, Contracts Engineering who are based in Kent, reducing the carbon footprint of the production process and supply chain.
The timber slats of the new range are FSC reclaimed hardwood timber sourced from Ashwells Reclaimed Timber, who specialise in tropical timber reclamation. Ashwells source and reclaim tropical hardwoods like Greenheart, Jarrah, and Keruing; repurposing the timber for future use in an FSC certified process that prevents further deforestation, saves energy & mineral resources, and protects architectural history. The wood is of the highest quality, boasting unique character and beauty ensuring that the product will last for years to come.
Furnitubes have also partnered with Ecologi to plant trees in key projects across Africa and South America, with the aim of restoring forests and combating climate change. Customers who purchase Fordham Reclaimed products will receive credit for their contribution in the company's digital forest.
This new range will offer a variety of benefits to customers, including high-quality materials, eco-friendly practices, and a commitment to sustainability. In addition, giving customers the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind look in their schemes whilst enabling landscape architects to deliver on greener projects.
Catherine Barratt, Managing Director at Furnitubes says: “ As part of our commitment to create more sustainable street furniture and help landscape architects achieve their greener projects goals, we are thrilled to partner with Ashwells and Ecologi to bring our customers our most sustainable range. By using FSC reclaimed hardwood timber, we are able to offer our customers a high-quality product that is also environmentally friendly and by planting trees in areas, we can help to restore natural habitats and fight against climate change."
