Made in Britain member Dulas, a renewable energy solutions innovator based in the Welsh town of Machynlleth, was part of a 125-strong trip to India with the Prime Minister earlier this month.
The opportunity marks the first major trade mission to South Asia under this administration and is already being hailed as an ‘incredible export opportunity’ for UK manufacturers.
The two-day trip brought together some of the UK’s brightest minds, entrepreneurs, CEOs, business leaders and cultural institutions for a trip designed to pursue growth and create jobs at home through a strong trading relationship with India.
“The most practical and impactful mission we’ve ever been involved in”
Speaking to Made in Britain, Executive Managing Director of Dulas, Ruth Chapman said: “Dulas is no stranger to trade missions, as we work with the Welsh Government and UK Government regularly to unlock export opportunities, but this visit to India was the most practical and impactful mission we’ve ever been involved in.
“We weren’t bogged down by theory or ‘what ifs?’ but met with a clear and decisive agenda, engaging directly with senior ministers and Harjinder Kang, Trade Commissioner for South Asia.
“India is especially eager and very willing to work with British manufacturers - so my advice to other Made in Britain members is to start forging those connections now to create tangible partnerships before the trade bill is ratified by parliament in early 2026. It’s an incredible export opportunity that will give you a real competitive edge in an enormous emerging market.”
Joining the Prime Minister on the flight to India were representatives from the likes of British Airways, BT, Rolls Royce, Monzo and more, alongside Made in Britain member, Dulas, represented by Executive Managing Director Ruth Chapman.
John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, said: “A core element of the Made in Britain mission is to support British manufacturing and allow British businesses to flourish, both domestically and internationally, so this trade visit to India is a fantastic result not just for Dulas, but for the wider Made in Britain network.”
The British government website states that the trip unlocked around 10,600 jobs for UK citizens, aided by £1.3 billion of investment from India, and a commitment to create three Bollywood films in the UK from 2026.
Made in Britain will be hosting an online session on exporting to India on 6 November. You can find out more and sign up for the session here.
