We couldn’t think of anyone better to receive our commemorative award, thank John Hudson our JCK Joinery Production Supervisor – who has been with us for over 40 years!
This year marks a proud moment for JCK Joinery as we celebrate 25 years as Secured by Design (SBD) members – the official UK Police security initiative. Earlier this week we celebrated that partnership, and what it means for the homes and communities we help protect. We couldn’t think of anyone more worthy to accept the award than John Hudson – our talented Production Supervisor who has been with the company for over 40 years, from boy to man. Thank you for being a great sport and accepting the award on behalf of the company, we appreciate it!
This long-standing accreditation isn’t simply about ticking a box. It’s a promise to our customers of our commitment to great design, with security built-in and offers peace of mind to architects, contractors, housing developers and councils alike. It also demonstrates that both our composite doorsets and bespoke timber doorsets are tested, certified and crafted to withstand modern security threats. A level of assurance which sets our products apart, and has done so for 25 years.
What does being Secured by Design members mean to our customers?
Confidence: Thanks to our SBD accreditation our customers can be confident that our doorsets meet independently verified, police-backed security standards.
Enhanced safety: SBD-accredited developments see crime reductions of up to a staggering 87%. A real testament to the power of preventative design.

A partnership as secure as its name; forged in innovation
Back in 2000, JCK Joinery were among the first manufacturers to join Secured By Design. Since then we’re pleased to see that many of our partners have also embraced the SBD initiative and we’re proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with like-minded companies; such as UAP for example. Their dedication to quality hardware and developing unique locking systems enhances our doors – allowing us to create doors which are both contemporary and elegant, and also highly resilient.
While our heritage stretches over 150 years as a group, our vision remains firmly future-focused. Our 25-year celebration as SBD members may well mean we reflect on the past, but what it also does, is underline our commitment to innovation and development – where security, sustainability, and modern design marry.
We would just like to say thank you to each and every customer who has chosen Unity Doors over the years; thank you for entrusting us to create doors which unify security, safety and style. And to Secured by Design, we would like to say special thanks for your continual innovation too; you’re constantly raising the bar for building security in the UK.
