Launch of The Penrose: a British Sheepskin dog coat

Introducing The Penrose: a British sheepskin dog coat.

One of the main objectives when creating this piece was to source as many of the individual components from the UK as possible. Additionally, it was integral that it would be made here in Britain to support our manufacturing industry.

I am proud to say that this has been achieved.

The Penrose is assembled entirely at Owen Barry, a family-owned, ethically run factory in Street, Somerset. Their 70 years of experience acquired in the sheepskin and leather industry, combined with their passion for the natural materials they work with, makes them the perfect fit for producing this product.

Additionally, the brass fittings have supplied by Abbey England, a market-leading UK wholesale supplier of premium materials and a Royal Warrant holder to Her Majesty the Queen. The buckles and strap dees are forged here in Britain at their foundry at Walsall.

The Penrose is of course a great personal achievement but it means so much more at the wider level. It adds to the narrative about the capabilities of our manufacturing industry. That Britain can produce quality products that arguably rival the outputs of the biggest luxury fashion houses; where we utilise natural materials from livestock that have been reared on UK farms; and how traditional crafts are being upheld amongst fast-paced technological advancements.

As a community, we are not just showcasing our individual products but we are also supporting one another when we advertise our Made In Britain certification. I am honoured to play a role in this.
