PFF manufactures millions of items of recyclable plastic packaging for UK food producers, but we also like to help small businesses and enterprises where we can.
Swithens is a working farm that can be found in Rothwell, Leeds. They have a petting area where customers can hand-feed a host of animals including pigs, llamas, alpacas, emus, meerkats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. They asked PFF if we could supply an exact sized, sustainable alternative to the 100% virgin polypropylene injection moulded trays currently being used for the small packs of fruit and veg.
We recommended a lightweight yet robust and fully recyclable rPET pack that would contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of the Farm. We subsequently manufactured and delivered a pallet load which should take Swithens through to the next season.
Jim Reid who works at the farm and first contacted us said, “PFF took what we needed on board and came up with the perfect solution. The containers they provided filled all our requirements and could be used multiple times before being recycled. Many thanks to PFF for their help and expertise.”
Leigh Wilson, Group Technical & Continuous Improvement Manager at Keighley said, “It’s a great feeling to help small businesses like Swithens Farm who are involved with local communities. Recyclability and sustainability are just as important to them, as they are to larger businesses and supermarket retailers.”
