Made in Britain at Conservative Party Conference

The CEO and board of Made in Britain have spent an excellent four days at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester – raising awareness of the official mark for British manufacturers with hundreds of MPs, delegates and fellow exhibitors.

For the first time, Made in Britain is attending all three major party Autumn
conferences to highlight the importance of the mark, our members, and the British manufacturing sector as a whole.

'It's clear to all of us that attendance at the Party Conferences is a highly effective way to promote and represent our community of more than 2,000 British manufacturers – all at the same time,” said CEO John Pearce.

Professor Chris Harrop OBE, Chairman of the Made in Britain Non-executive Board of Directors, added: “Attending the conferences is a fantastic opportunity for Made in Britain to further raise awareness of the mark and the organisation with policy makers across the political spectrum. Manufacturing is vital to the UK economy and British jobs, therefore it is important to all parties.”

Made in Britain has developed its own HeatMap of the UK, showing where members are based. Delegates at the Conferences have been able to explore the map.

“The new Made in Britain HeatMap has been a revelation for people,” said Katy Moss, who is a Made in Britain Non-executive board director and the managing director of Trent Refractories. She attended both the Liberal Democrats Party Conference in Bournemouth and the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.

“I've spoken to so many MPs, councillors and ministers in both Bournemouth and Manchester, who all agree that the Made in Britain HeatMap makes it easier for them to back British manufacturing locally, regionally and nationally,” Moss added.

Made in Britain will also be attending the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool from Sunday 8th October (Stand 206).
