Made in Britain attends Liberal Democrat Party Conference

The executive team at Made in Britain have successfully completed the first stage of a new awareness raising exercise that will see the official Mark being promoted, and our 2000 members represented at all three Autumn conferences for the largest UK-wide parties.

Rounding off four days at the Bournemouth International Centre with the Liberal Democrats, CEO John Pearce was delighted at the number of visitors to the Made in Britain stand, and with the level of knowledge and enthusiasm for the growth of British manufacturing.

Everyone that I spoke to was keen to know more about the official Mark and pleased that we are promoting British manufacturing in this way – transparently. We demonstrated the new Made in Britain heatmap of the UK on one screen, which clearly illustrated to visitors and delegates exactly how many manufacturers are in their locality. The website screen then offers visitors the chance to view products made by our members in the Directory and read from 1000s of news stories, taking a closer look at the impact of our members in local communities and across the UK.”

Made in Britain chairman, Prof Chris Harrop OBE is joining board members, Camilla Hadcock, Katy Moss and Peter Atmore at the Conservative Conference at Manchester Central from Sunday, 1st Oct to Wed 4th Oct on Stand No 206.

The executive team will also be exhibiting to raise awareness of Made in Britain official Mark at the Labour Conference at the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool from Sun, 8th Oct to Wed 11th Oct.

“Attending the conferences is a fantastic opportunity for Made in Britain to promote the mark and the organisation with policymakers across the whole political spectrum. Manufacturing is vital to the UK economy and to British jobs – therefore it is important to all parties,” explained chairman Prof. Chris Harrop OBE.

The Made in Britain mark is recognised by 50% of British consumers and 66% of businesses, according to research conducted by OnePoll in early 2023. The bigger and more recognised the mark becomes, the better it will be for the British manufacturers that use it – and for the growth of the UK manufacturing sector as a whole.
