Made in Britain connects members with Ministry of Defence supply chain partner

On 22 April, Made in Britain delivered an online session to connect members to Leidos, the procurement delivery partner for the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).  The event aimed to ‘demystify dealing with defence’.

Leidos manages a flagship £6.5bn Logistics Commodities & Services Transformation Programme, implementing technological advancements for the MoD, one of the world’s foremost military operations.

Circa 60 UK manufacturers registered for the session to hear Leidos, who presented on:

 • Product areas procured for the MoD, highlighting many that are not ‘military’ by definition, for example (and in not limited to): facilities and janitorial; electrical components; oils, lubricants and greases; medical and first aid; PPE; clothing; and, other general supplies
 • Live and pipeline opportunities
 • Supplier obligations, guidance and the practical steps involved in winning business with Leidos
 • Leidos’s supply chain priorities, including sustainability

HMG Paints then spoke about their experience of working with Leidos, providing the perspective of a SME supplier, including on the registration process and importance of partnership.  HMG Paints are based in Manchester and has been a member of Made in Britain since January 2021.

The event and relationship with Leidos sits within Made in Britain’s work and offer to members on supply chains, linked to UK government and the country’s biggest private sector buyers.
