Made in Britain puts procurement on the agenda at parliamentary meetings

MADE in Britain made a significant impression at the meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group in January by adding procurement to the agenda for meetings in 2020.

The policy group meets monthly to make recommendations to MPs about what matters most to the UK manufacturing community. This year Made in Britain is lobbying MPs on one of the most important subjects to its members, procurement.

John Pearce, chief executive of Made in Britain, said, “Procurement was not one of the themes for this year’s strategy meetings at the start but fellow director David Osborne and I made sure it was by at the end. The first meeting of the calendar year sets the strategic direction for the group, so it’s vital we are at this table to help set the agenda in favour of our members’ needs.”

The other agreed themes for the group were: green manufacturing and the opportunity of Net Zero; international manufacturing and trade; industrial strategy, local and national; innovation and science; diversity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
