Members discover how to supply global engineering services firm Babcock

A supply chain lead at global engineering company Babcock presented exclusively to Made in Britain members in October 2023.

Members can watch a recording of the session here, or email trade@madeinbritain.org for a copy of Babcock’s slides, and/or introductions to Babcock and its leading integrators.

Babcock is a leading international provider of critical and complex engineering services, headquartered in the UK. Their services play a vital role in supporting national defence, saving lives and protecting communities. Government bids highlight SME involvement, such as the Type 31 Frigate program at our Rosyth facility, and they procure around £2.6bn of goods and services each year.

Their four main sectors are:
1. Marine
2. Land-Aviation
3. Mission Systems
4. Nuclear (Civil and Naval)

In 2022, Babcock contributed £3.3 billion to the UK's GDP, paid £770 million in taxes, and supported nearly 57,000 jobs across the country.

During the session, Babcock showcased their needs and wants to buy from UK manufacturers (current and pipeline); explained where best to access those opportunities; and, how to bid most effectively for those opportunities.

The session forms part of Made in Britain's programme of activity on UK government-related procurement and social value.

Made in Britain's engagement with Leidos was facilitated by George Middleton, principal consultant at MAP and advisor to Made in Britain on government and international trade.
