Pink Not Black

Most conventional black plastic packaging is coloured using carbon black pigments. It cannot be detected by the Near Infra-Red (NIR) technology that is widely used in UK plastic recycling sites. As a result, black plastic is usually disposed of in a landfill site or incinerated.

We are delighted to have worked with itsu [grocery] to change the lid colour of their premium range of rice’noodle cup packaging from black to pink (ensuring they are always detected in recycling facilities). The lid and cup are manufactured from 50% recycled plastic which, alongside the cardboard sleeve, can now be widely recycled.

PFF is proud to have contributed to one of itsu’s growing number of sustainability milestones.
