Russell Finex boosts productivity at Windsor & Eton Brewery

The Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter® cuts 40 hours of downtime annually

Established in 2010, the Windsor & Eton Brewery, produces over 1.2 million pints of beer annually and has won 90+ major awards. They supply to local pubs, bars, and restaurants, also run a taproom, shop, and pub in Eton named The George. Additionally, they collaborate with breweries worldwide.

Earlier on, the brewery used a small metal filter for coarse filtration, to remove yeast slurry and hop material from the beer before filling into kegs, cans, and bottles. However, this filter frequently clogged, causing up to 15 minutes of downtime every hour for cleaning.

By switching to the Self-Cleaning Russell Eco Filter®, the brewery eliminated this downtime. The new filter's solids waste valve allowed continuous waste removal without halting production, processing 420,000 liters a year and saving 40 hours of downtime. Additionally, the filter cartridge has a longer operational life, saving the brewery £2,000 each year.

Windsor & Eton Brewery also plans to use the new filter for faster beer clarification, potentially reducing preparation time from 11 to 8 days and increasing capacity by 25%.
