TADWELD DONATES MATERIALS TO NHS AMIDST COVID-19 CRISIS

Tadcaster-based engineering firm Tadweld has manufactured and donated aluminium staging to York Teaching Hospital, as the NHS trust continues to respond to the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The staging will be used in the Renal Clinic Outpatients Unit in nearby Selby.

The donation comes shortly after the firm announced a change in ownership with Richard Byfield, Iain Leedham, Kevin Wheelock and Paul Rose acquiring the company.

Under its new ownership, Tadweld is developing a comprehensive corporate social responsibility programme, with this announcement marking the first of many contributions to the local community.

The specialist engineering firm works with some of the world’s largest businesses and brands – including Guinness, Nestle and Diageo – providing innovative steel solutions from an unrivalled team of highly skilled engineers, installing time-critical platforms and walkways which are often the base for significant production line investment.

With a large proportion of Tadweld’s customers being in the food and drink sector, the company plays a vital role in these supply chains and has continued to operate throughout the COVID-19 crisis –wherever safe and possible – and the team were keen to support other local organisations in need during this time.

Tadweld’s new Chairman and Director Paul Rose said:

“Tadweld has been a cornerstone of the local community since it was founded in 1978. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to use our engineering capabilities to support the NHS at such a critical time.”

Simon Morritt, Chief Executive of York Teaching Hospital NHS Trust Foundation acknowledged the support, noting:

“Despite such difficult circumstances, and when health professionals across the country are working under more pressure than ever before, the outpouring of support, kindness, generosity and well wishes from people all across the region has been truly heart-warming.”
