TRT's illuminating journey through Green Growth

TRT Lighting Ltd designs, manufactures and supplies energy-efficient, environmentally friendly performance lighting products for the road, tunnel and exterior lighting markets. It has recently taken part in the Green Growth programme from Made in Britain and managing director, Ross Evans (left), describes the experience.

What did the Green Growth assessment tell you about your business?

It confirmed TRT's commitment to a greener future and to reaching net-zero energy by 2050. TRT, which has already been assessed as ISO14064 Carbon Neutral, is now recognising and addressing sustainability and product circularity not only within our operations but also throughout our supply chain.

Has the Green Growth assessment changed the way you work?

It has caused us to pause and reflect, daily, on how we can operate in a ‘greener’ way and where improvements can be made. It also emphasised the importance of involving all employees at all levels in this joint effort.

How easy was it to gather the data? How long did it take you to fill it in?

The straightforward questions and multiple-choice answers made the process simple and took a matter of hours to complete. The company already had most of the evidence documented/recorded.  The information we didn’t have to hand was easily obtainable.

Did the Green Growth assessment tell you anything you didn't know?

It was only when TRT started the assessment that we realised how many companies were already involved in the Green Growth Programme and they were providing assistance and updates online.

What has been the biggest benefit, having completed the Green Growth assessment?

Completing the assessment has been very beneficial.  Not only has it allowed us to share knowledge and learn from other Made in Britain members, but it also encouraged us to share more information within our company. It's fantastic to be able to showcase TRT’s accomplishments so far.
