Tuffa help green company Warrens Group reduce fleet emissions with AdBlue tank

Warrens Group are pioneers of food waste recycling. The biogas producers process food waste that would otherwise be incinerated or taken to landfill and convert it into energy and fertilisers. Each year the company collects 115,000 tonnes of organic waste and via a process of anaerobic digestion convert it into 100,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser and 100 million kWh of clean, green, renewable energy.

Like bees to honey Warrens Group’s fleet of 15 trucks travel the surrounding area collecting the food waste from commercial customers. 5 of the trucks are carbon neutral and ‘self-sufficient’ having been converted to run directly from biomethane originating from the food waste they collect. The remaining 10 trucks are yet to be converted so run from diesel and require AdBlue to reduce harmful emissions.

Warrens Group’s Senior Engineer Muaid Sharif sought to upgrade from the company’s IBCs which were ‘disorganised, a little messy and in the wrong location’. Muaid contacted Tuffa and selected our 2,500L AdBlue dispensing tank with a 230V pump, automatic shut off nozzle with integrated digital flowmeter and a manual float level gauge fitted within the secure tank lid.

With the IBCs removed the AdBlue tank has been installed on the company’s one-way system where it has joined Tuffa’s 15,000L and 3,500L diesel dispensing tanks for white and red diesel which we manufactured a few years ago. We caught up with Mauid to see how the new AdBlue dispenser was performing:

The new tank is the perfect size giving us at least a 2 week supply of AdBlue and is the ideal replacement for the old IBC. We now have a dedicated, enclosed AdBlue filling station which complies with all the regs. It’s much easier to work with, much more cost-effective and filling the trucks is quicker too.

Mauid went on to explain that The Warrens Group fleet typically uses between 800L to 1,000L of AdBlue a week so with the extra capacity provided by upgrading to a bulk storage tank they have a continuous stock of at least 1,000L. We recently reported on the soaring prices of AdBlue and issues with supply in certain areas. In the unlikely event of supply issues, the new AdBlue storage tank will help the Warrens Group to operate effectively for a much longer duration. The added benefit to upgrading to an AdBlue tank is that it could effectively pay for itself within a year or two due to the savings from bulk buying.
