UK manufacturing in the spotlight at Global Britain Trade Expo

Made in Britain was delighted to take part in the inaugural Global Britain Trade Expo on 9th May 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in the heart of Westminster.

John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain (pictured), took the stage as part of a programme of speakers including former UK business secretary Sir Vince Cable and former EBRD executive director Yuri Poluneev.

John Pearce’s keynote emphasised the significant role of British manufacturing in driving the UK's economic resurgence and global competitiveness. He focused on the strategic importance of British manufacturing for export growth and the promotion of a cleaner, more responsible manufacturing sector.

The speech also covered the growth of Made in Britain, which today comprises over 2,050 businesses contributing approximately £6 billion in GVA to the UK economy. The organisation fosters a network that enhances collaboration and transparency, sustainability, product innovation, and social responsibility.

Sustainability is a core focus, with Made in Britain manufacturers leading the way in upcycling materials, producing durable products, and adopting greener energy practices. These efforts contribute to a narrative of environmental and social value, benefiting the entire UK economy. Membership in Made in Britain signifies high business standards and quality, enhancing members' reputations and marketability.

John Pearce also used his keynote to underscore the importance of responsible, agile leadership, as he and the other delegates looked ahead to the UK general election. The vote will be held over the coming months, with most analysts expecting it to be called late this year. Recent polls suggest Labour has a 30 point lead over the incumbent Conservative party led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The next Global Britain Trade Expo will be held on 29th May 2025.
