Woolwich Leisure Centre Project

The brand new community leisure centre in Woolwich was built by Morgan Sindall and is one of the largest urban leisure centres in the country. The three-floor facility is set to open in Autumn 2025. The leisure centre offers a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities designed to encourage families, young people, adults, and people with disabilities to become more active and engaged in physical activities.

Woolwich Leisure Centre spans across 12,800 square metres. It includes a variety of amenities such as multiple swimming pools with water flumes, a 25-metre pool, a teaching pool, sports courts, a health suite and spa with steam and sauna rooms, squash courts, an activity roof terrace, and commercial space with on-site parking.

We won this project in 2025 and have worked with Morgan Sindall to provide the best and modern solutions for Woolwich Leisure Centre. We supplied the full lockers and cubicles package, including bench seating, integrated plumbing system (IPS) and Corian® powder shelf.

For this project, we manufactured and installed leisure lockers in various compartment configurations and sizes. The lockers were fabricated with a curved aluminium carcass that is easy to clean, hygienic, and free from sharp edges or dirt traps. These lockers were specifically designed for environments exposed to chlorinated water and high humidity.

The locker doors were made of robust, solid-grade laminate (SGL) in a range of colours from the Helmsman washroom range: Ice White, Sand, Light Grey, Graphite Grey, and Dark Grey. Each locker was completed with an Ojmar Hasp lock featuring circular numbering above, or an Ojmar £1 coin lock with white wrist straps. In addition, the lockers were installed on tiled stands, as well as some of the lockers in changing rooms installed with seat stands, allowing users to sit down when changing clothes and shoes.

The installation included floating front-line cubicles, tailored to meet the specific requirements of the facility. The cubicles were installed in multiple rooms, including changing rooms, village change rooms and rest rooms. Each cubicle featured a customised headrail designed to enhance both durability and aesthetic appeal.

The fascia and dividers of the cubicles were manufactured from solid grade laminate in ‘Graphite Grey’ and ‘Sand’ to complement the colour scheme of the leisure lockers. Airix cubicles installed in the village change area were fitted with aluminium anti-peep profiles, ensuring privacy while being suitable for a chlorinated environment.

To maintain a consistent and cohesive finish throughout the project, we also supplied and installed integrated plumbing systems (IPS), along with Corian powder shelf in both the changing rooms and village change area.

The project was installed in several phases, according to the contractors and available floor space. We’re incredibly pleased with how the project has turned out. It was great to work alongside Morgan Sindall.
