West Bromwich-based plastic fabrication company Wrights Plastics' collaboration with the Morgan Motor Company continues with their important contribution to its latest limited-edition model, Midsummer.
Midsummer has been created in recognition of the heyday of European barchetta designs, this special – limited to just 50 examples – represents the shared vision of Morgan and Pininfarina, who have collaborated to “reinterpret and celebrate the timeless Morgan silhouette".
Wrights Plastics is pleased to support the Midsummer project as a supplier of the left and right hand 'wind deflectors' for the 'low screen' Midsummer variants. The 'wind deflectors' serve to deflect oncoming air over the occupants, providing a degree of wind protection while preserving the car's sleek, open-top aesthetic.
The polycarbonate base is firstly coated with a clear non-yellowing resin hard coat, which provides improved protection against deterioration from weather and ultraviolet – essential for those cherished trips around the Cote D’Azur. It is particularly improved in its resistance to long term cracking as result of UV exposure.
The material is then drape moulded by their expert teams before being precision trimmed inhouse on their 5-axis CNC routing machine ready for despatch. All parts comply with the latest EU regulations including European End of Life Base Directives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of vehicles once they reach the end of their useful life.
This project marks the acrylic fabrication specialists continued partnership with Morgan. Previous projects has seen us manufacture rear screens for their Aero8 model and gain ECE-R43 safety certification for screens.
