Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co collaboration with National Weaving

We were delighted to hear from Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Company about their collaboration with fellow Made in Britain member, National Weaving. In this feature we hear from Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co about how this collaboration came to be and their experience of working with a Made in Britain member.

What was the business need that made you go to the Member Directory to find another manufacturer?

We visited the Member Director on the hunt for another exceptional Made in Britain member to help create labelling for our new collection of Sandringham Wool mattresses. Our requirements were that the items had to be made fully by the manufacturer and be 100% cotton and National Weaving fit those requirements.

Did you have an existing supplier or was it for a new supplier relationship?

This was for a new supplier relationship so it was an exciting collaboration.

What advantages have you found in collaborating with another member, or members?

The advantage of using the member's directory was primarily the security of knowing that both brands already had great synergy in a commitment to British manufacturing. Knowing that National Weaving had also been through the thorough MiB screening process offered authenticity, validation and trust.

How has the collaboration benefited your, and your partner's businesses?

By collaborating with a fellow MiB member, we've been able to look at multiple aspects of cross-channel marketing that focus on British manufacturing and raising the profile of both us and National Weaving. By using a fellow MiB member to support elements of this luxury range, we've enhanced the product with a great British craftsmanship perspective.

What advice would you give to other members seeking a collaboration from within Made in Britain membership?

You can use the directory as a starting point and take it from there - contact multiple members and find the right fit for your brand and requirements. Your first contact might not be the right one, so be mindful not to close off other potential collaborations. Also, if in doubt, contact the Made in Britain membership team as they can help point you in the right direction.

Now focusing on sustainability, why has the Green Growth Programme been so valuable?

Third-party validation and certification are essential to help build a trustworthy brand. Although certified by the Carbon Standard organisation, utilising the Green Growth Programme offers a more significant appraisal of our efforts to be green. It highlights any potential areas overlooked by other third-party assessments.

How has it helped transform your business?

Although we scored highly- which validated our efforts to date, it has helped us transform aspects of our business that we previously overlooked, helping us deeper immersed in our green efforts. We're very grateful for this!

What do you see as the benefit of the Green Growth Programme?

It significantly highlighted that there was a lot of work to be done within the MiB  Eco-system - this is something that we are working on and looking to enhance over the coming months through new collaborations. Although we already benefit from an entire UK supply chain, working as part of the MiB eco-system will help support other members in their green journey while offering us further endorsement and support for the Green Growth programme.

We're always thrilled to hear from members of Made in Britain who have collaborated and have found each other through the Made in Britain network. If you have collaborated with another Made in Britain member, we would like to feature your story. Please get in touch at info@madeinbritain.org
