Popular in barn conversions, hopper windows open inwards from a hinge at the bottom. Originally fitted to working stables and barns, they are faithful to the original design in barn and farm projects.

Originally, they were used in barns to keep high level airflow over livestock, to prevent stale air, smell and disease, with the increase in barn conversions in recent years these are being used to replicate the traditional style of the barn while offering high level ventilation. These windows typically feature a fanlight catch at the top and a restrictor to set the maximum opening.
