Seb Marshall, WhiffAway

"We will continue to innovate and manufacture products here in the UK, creating jobs and prospects in the process."
Seb Marshall, Chief Operating Officer, WhiffAway

WhiffAway, founded in a garage and now operating five international offices, and exporting to nearly 50 countries, is a UK-based manufacturer specialising in water-saving solutions for commercial washrooms. Their core product - waterless urinals - helps British industry conserve around 1.9 billion litres of water, energy, and carbon.

Beyond sanitaryware, they produce plastic fittings, consumables, and smart solutions like occupancy-sensing "loo lights." Sustainability is central to their operations, with components now made from ocean-reclaimed plastics such as discarded fishnets.

Their manufacturing in the UK allows for agility and efficiency, particularly in producing small, recyclable components quickly using automated tooling. WhiffAway also emphasises retrofitting existing facilities to reduce waste and capital costs. With products exported to nearly 50 countries, the company operates from offices in the UK, USA, Germany, South Africa, and the UAE.

Chief Operating Officer, Seb highlights the value of British manufacturing, noting customer demand and pride in local production. WhiffAway champions the Made in Britain trademark, which features on all packaging and marketing materials, and actively encourages its supply chain to support UK production.

Seb urges others to consider manufacturing in Britain, citing available grant funding and the untapped potential of revitalising the UK's once-thriving industrial base. Despite being a small SME, WhiffAway is proving that innovation, sustainability, and British manufacturing can go hand in hand.
