MATTRESS-free bed-maker Ammique has joined Made in Britain’s Green Growth Programme. Marlene Greenhalgh, managing director of Ammique (left) shares her Green Growth experience.
What did the Green Growth assessment tell you about your business?
It made me think about our long-term business plan looking back as well as going forward and how it has evolved in tune with our company culture and philosophy.
Has the Green Growth assessment changed the way you work?
No, but it reassured me that we seem to be on the right track. It also reminded me that there is always more to do by working in partnership with others.
How easy was it to gather the data? How long did it take you to fill it in?
Having sight of the questions on the downloadable PDF version beforehand was hugely helpful. The read-through enabled me to gather my thoughts as well as access the information we already have on file. All in all - it took about ten minutes.
Did the Green Growth assessment tell you anything you didn't know?
I don’t think that it did, to be honest, but it was reassuring in so far as it substantiated our long-term strategic goals.
What has been the biggest benefit, having completed the Green Growth assessment?
Probably the biggest benefit is that the data gathered will be made available as a resource for Made in Britain members ongoing. By reviewing the data collected and by sharing experiences I would hope that the Green Growth working group could guide the process and help fellow members have a greater understanding of the commercial advantages of adapting their business practices in the most sustainable way.
